Vitamin D is usually obtained by exposure to sunlight. However several factors prevent us from obtaining an adequate dose. These include geographic areas with low sunlight availability, use of sunscreen, staying indoors, pigmented skin. Very foods have adequate amounts of vitamin D. 100 g of salmon and Sun dried shiitake mushrooms are two of the foods which provide adequate amounts of vitamin D.
